Catalyst Cosmetic Raw Materials Sodium Bromide CAS 7647-15-6 Raw Materials For Film Emulsion
Introduction:
At room temperature, sodium bromide is a colorless cubic crystal or white granular powder, belonging to the isometric crystal system, odorless, alkaline and slightly bitter, and highly toxic. It easily absorbs moisture in the air and agglomerates, but does not deliquesce. It is slightly soluble in alcohol and easily soluble in water (the solubility in 100ml of water at 100°C is 121g). Its aqueous solution is neutral and conductive. Anhydrous sodium bromide crystals precipitate in the solution at 51°C, and dihydrate is generated below 51°C. Its bromide ions can be replaced by fluorine and chlorine. Under acidic conditions, it can be oxidized by oxygen to release bromine, and this characteristic is used in industry to produce bromine. It can react with dilute sulfuric acid to produce hydrogen bromide. However, hydrobromic acid is a strong acid and cannot be produced by reacting with dilute sulfuric acid. Only high-boiling-point acid can be used to produce low-boiling-point acid, but concentrated sulfuric acid cannot be used because concentrated sulfuric acid has strong oxidizing properties and will oxidize -1 valent bromine into elemental bromine, releasing a reddish-brown gas. This method can be used to identify sodium iodide (sodium iodide and concentrated sulfuric acid are heated to release purple-red gas). Therefore, hydrogen bromide can only be produced by heating concentrated phosphoric acid with solid sodium bromide.
Uses:
It is used in the photosensitive industry to prepare film sensitive liquid. It is used in medicine to produce diuretics and sedatives. It is used in the perfume industry to produce synthetic perfumes. It is used as a brominating agent in the printing and dyeing industry. In addition, it is also used in organic synthesis and other aspects. It is used as an analytical reagent and is also used in the synthesis of inorganic and organic compounds and the pharmaceutical industry.
