8-Hydroxyquinoline copper is a green to yellow crystalline powder, odorless, non-volatile, non-deliquescent, and non-flammable. It decomposes and turns black at higher temperatures. It is insoluble in water and most organic solvents, slightly soluble in quinoline, pyridine, glacial acetic acid, chloroform, and weak acids, soluble in strong acids, and decomposes in alkali.
It is used as a fungicide in agriculture. It is also used as a mildew preventer for ropes, wires, leather, and vinyl plastics.
